Our Mission Statement
The Alberta Association for Animal Owner's Rights promotes in Alberta:
1. Final decisions about animal health care to be entrusted and made by the animal’s owner;
2. A new level of animal welfare that includes physical, mental and spiritual wellness for all animals;
3. A variety of wellness options available to animals in Alberta including certified veterinary care and certified non-veterinarian practitioners.
4. An “open door” policy between veterinarians, non-veterinarian animal welfare providers and animal owners;
5. The freedom of non-veterinarian animal welfare providers to provide humane animal wellness services for pay without the threat of legal recrimination;
6. The freedom of veterinarians to associate with non-veterinarian animal welfare providers without the threat of legal recrimination;
7. Wellness and prevention techniques for animal owners and animal welfare providers through articles, seminars and links;
8. The planning of an “umbrella group” for all non-veterinarian animal welfare providers to ensure credibility, ethics and promote accessibility to animal owners.

It's Time to Give Birth to a New Vision of
Animal Welfare.
In 1985, Professor Tom Reagan said, “All great movements, it is written, go through three stages: ridicule, discussion, adoption. It is the realization of this third stage, adoption, that requires both our passion and our discipline, our hearts and our heads. The fate of animals is in our hands. God grant that we are equal to the task.”
God grant it indeed.
